New global aviation broker to welcome senior partner onboard

BGC Insurance Group (BGCI) wants only the best people boarding its new global aviation and space (re)insurance broker, which has made another high-profile appointment.

Joining as senior partner on completion of notice period obligations is Mark Costin, who most recently served as aviation and aerospace chief executive at Marsh JLT Speciality. The Willis Towers Watson alumnus will be part of the team headed by president Marcel Chad and CEO Philip Smaje.

Chad said their “compelling vision and ambition” is to build an entrepreneurial environment that will be attractive to diverse and high-calibre talent from across the industry.

The president, who himself was previously with Marsh Aviation and JLT Aerospace, added: “I am delighted, both personally and professionally, to welcome Mark to our growing team.”

The insurance division of BGC Partners, BGCI, is the name behind specialist brands Ed, Besso, Junge, and Cooper Gay France. It recently recruited Smaje, a former chief executive at Willis Towers Watson ’s global aviation practice.
